Marshall Henson was born at Jonesboro, Arkansas, on September 9, 1946. He was “born again” on a cold winter day in 1958. At the urging of Aubrey Caldwell, a church deacon who helped and encouraged young men to preach, he preached his first sermon (a generous use of the word sermon) at age 15. In high school and college, he did “fill-in” preaching wherever needed in northeast Arkansas. While attending Arkansas State University, working toward a degree in speech, he married his high-school sweetheart, the former Vicki Gregson, on July 22, 1966. The Hensons have two children, Dana Ellison and Jimmy Henson, and a granddaughter, Ashland Ellison.
Upon graduation from college, Marshall entered the military as a Signal Corps officer. After discharge, he entered graduate school and began preaching on a regular basis in 1971, serving congregations in Arkansas, Michigan and South Carolina. For eight years, he served as director and a teacher at Bristol Road School of Biblical Studies, a preacher training school in Flint, Michigan. Over the years he has preached in numerous meetings and workshops and has also served as an elder.
For the last few years, the Henson family has operated two ServiceMaster franchises which has allowed Marshall to be a “self supported” preacher. During this time, both Marshall and Vicki were diagnosed with cancer and both are now in remission.
Now a new opportunity has presented itself – the opportunity to offer free of charge special weekend sessions to congregations. Some call it a seminar, others call it a workshop, but Marshall likes to think of it as a Weekend of Awakening. The weekend is designed to help God's people be more aware to the possibilities when they follow God as faithful servants – to rekindle revival fires in the hearts of fellow Christians – to give a better understanding of the promises and principles available to children of the King! |
